- Use meta information
- ensure the sitemap.xml file is up-to-date
Manage through a webmaster account
- Google - with a gmail account
- Bing - with a live account
submit your site to major search providers
Encourage and monitor inbound links
- Google search with the 'link:' prefix
- Yahoo
Search Engine Market
The Search Engine market in Australia is dominated by Google. Bing is the default search provider on computers that ship with Windows. The current and future growth of Bing is organic and tied to computer replacements and a proportion of people who leave the defaults. Similarly NineMSN is the default home page on Windows based computers.
There are varying estimates on provider's market share, this graph represents my observations from a few sources.
